Trust Us To Secretly Invade Your Privacy

Trust us to do the right thing behind electronic fences, surveillance monitors and closed doors
National security issues demand utmost secrecy in matters of our choosing
Nonetheless, as we ensure the common welfare the decent need not be concerned

Have a little patience and let us do the right thing in your national interest
We cannot afford to tip off our enemies as to our strategies and process
There is nothing that the innocent and patriotic citizen needs to fear

Don’t worry over our motives for we have a clear vision going forward
We classify information as secret to protect our citizenry, not ourselves
We cannot afford to reveal our plans to those who would destroy us

Trust us once again on this one as we trust in God to guide our hands
We really need all that personal data in this struggle against our enemies
Please remain calm and go about your usual patriotic business at the malls

You must always keep in mind that our country is still at war
Certainly even our closest allies may harbor traitors in their ranks
Arbitrary vast secrecy is vital to protecting our national security

We set aside our own interests and petty egos to protect our citizen charges
We stay up late and work weekends to preserve this seamless fantasy
We need to know all about you but we require strictest secrecy with regards to ourselves

Trust us to meddle in the lives of only those whom we deem suspicious
Our spokesmen have no comment regarding ongoing inquiries or operations
Any of us convicted of wrongdoing will certainly be immediately disavowed & dismissed

This intelligence apparatus is solely to preserve your rights and freedoms
We may be forced to authorize temporary actions contrary to civil rights
There are times we will disinform you and the enemy via our official announcements

We are a nation which lives by the rule of law
We are sworn to uphold and enforce all the laws

Now and again we may enact certain secret programs to ensure your security
